Hi again! It’s been a while since we gathered over Sunday morning coffee and recalled the time when Marion and Art headed west from Nebraska in search of the California dream. It’s been a minute since we talked about Lakewood, that pancake-flat ubersuburb, and threw our heads back and howled with laughter when Burt and Jim dragged me into the Sierra during a three-day monsoon. And what about the miracle in Mexico? The diabolical threat to kill me and my sister? The helicopter assault on Palo Alto?
Do you miss those stories? Thought so.
Well, I’m pleased to announce that, after prodding and encouragement from many people (okay, mostly from my Dad), Gas Can Press has released California Story as a book. All thirty-nine blog installments that I posted on Substack last year have been collected together in a single volume, and it’s available now both as a paperback and in hardcover exclusively through Amazon, here.
Picture this: a fresh copy of California Story arrives on your doorstep and your day is suddenly better.
One small favor. Regardless of whether you choose to buy the book or not, if you enjoyed my California Story I’d appreciate it if you’d take a moment to click here and write a review. Just one or two sentences from you might bring a new unsuspecting reader to the project, and that’s the whole point.
Thanks for reading!
YES!! I’m so excited for this! Congratulations to you, and I hope everyone who reads your beautiful story finds as much joy in it as I did.
Outstanding, Steve. I hope many more people will read your profound story, through publication of the book!
